Three men accused of kidnapping and murdering a Strandfontein man, who died without regaining consciousness, were remanded in custody after making a brief appearance in the Mitchells Plain Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.

Ricardo Jackson, Romano Jenniker and Warren Challen appeared in the dock where they made a formal bail application.

Jackson would not be applying for bail, the court heard.

Chad Baron, 26, was hijacked on his way home from a party in Cape Town on June 8. He was found by a boy who had been walking past an abandoned building in Camp Road, Strandfontein, where his body had been dumped after the attack. He was less than a kilometre from his home.

Baron had sustained multiple stab wounds and been beaten with a brick.

Originally accused of attempted murder, the charge was amended to murder after Baron died on July 11.

He was buried on Saturday.

Jenniker and Challen’s application will be heard on August 13. News24
