A police constable appeared in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on Friday after being caught with drugs and ammunition in her Table View home.

The officer was arrested after members of the police’s Anti-Corruption Unit responded to a tip-off and executed a search operation at the 36-year-old woman’s home, said police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Andre Traut.

“The search led to the discovery and subsequent seizure of a small quantity of tik and drug paraphernalia, 22 9mm rounds in addition to the quantity she was authorised to possess, as well as an official SAPS date stamp,” Traut said.

“We have reason to believe that the member was involved in a corrupt relationship with drug dealers, which is also currently under investigation.

“Police will not hesitate to take action against any person who breaks the law, even if that person is a member of SAPS.” News24
