Four children have died in a shack fire in Khayelitsha, Cape Town, the city’s fire and rescue services said on Tuesday.
“The City of Cape Town’s Fire and Rescue Service responded to a fire at 20:15 on Monday night in U-Section in Khayelitsha,” spokesperson Theo Layne said.
“We had four informal structures and two formal structures that were damaged by the fire.
“Four children had died in the fire, being three girls aged between 18-months and 3-years-old, and one boy aged 6.”
The cause of the fire was undetermined at this stage.
The matter has been handed over to police for further investigation. News24
