Eskom has release a new winter load shedding schedule, which is due to take effect as of 1 July 2015. The new schedule caters for the changed energy consumption pattern of customers over the winter period. They have also taken into account the input of various stakeholders.
The revised schedule allows customers to fully rotate through all time slots over 31 days, within a stage. The previous schedule provided for partial rotation over a 4 day period. There are no changes to the actual load shedding alphabetical customer list and therefore the load shedding block numbers remain unchanged.
Load shedding schedules and technical overview:
• Stage 1 allows for up to 1000 MW of the national load to be shed
• Stage 2 allows for up to 2000 MW of the national load to be shed.
• Stage 3 allows for up to 3000 MW of the national load to be shed.
• Stage 4 allows for up to 4000 MW of the national load to be shed.
