The Oscar Pistorius case goes back to the Supreme Court of Appeal in Bloemfontein on Friday, as the National Prosecutions Authority (NPA) remains in the news.

The NPA will file papers seeking leave to appeal the former paralympian’s six-year sentence for murdering his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.

North Gauteng High Court Judge, Thokozile Masipa, earlier refused to grant the state leave to appeal.

She imposed the six-year term after the Supreme Court of Appeal altered her earlier culpable homicide verdict to murder.

The NPA believes that the sentence is too short.

The defence argues that Pistorius has already served a year in prison and house arrest, making it an effective seven-year sentence.
