Q. What brought you to the Voice Of the Cape?

Sitting in a high-rise building in the corporate world, my contract came to an end with Kelly Personnel, they advised me to apply for a voluntary position with a newly started Muslim Radio Station. VOC did not have a position in my field of study, but because of my strong admin background, I was appointed as a personal assistant to the first Station manager, Mr. Anwar Ismail. My duty was to assist him and his team in compiling the documentation
required to obtain a radio licence.

Q. What do you love most about radio?

The Honesty…, unlike TV, you’re allowed to Edit but with Radio each and every word that you utter should be carefully said.

Q. In five words, how would you sum up your show?

The Classifieds creates an awareness, its prompt, exact and on par with latest events hence providing a service to the community. It also lifts the morale of the unemployed, especially those trying to generate some revenue to sustain themselves.

Q. What is the one thing that you are excited about that is coming up in 2018?

I’m Looking forward to the New Look of re-vamped Studios and to the businesses and individuals supporting their favourite radio station that have been able to provide them with 22 years of quality broadcasting.

Q. What drives you?

The Love and the passion of whatever you pursue and the positive outcome thereof.

Q. Are you a morning or a night person?

Definitely a night person…most nights I lie awake contemplating the next day. Allow me
to add I’m not good at preparing breakfast !

Q. Any pet peeves?

I grew up in the City, so the only thing I’m not scared of is a fly !

Q. Embarrassing moments on air?

Boeta Achmat Davids (historian and previous VOC Station Management) and I shared a program on air and his pants normally tied around his waist with a neck-tie, came loose… and fell down displaying his multi-colour Boxer Shorts and odd colour socks!

Q. Where is the worst place you could get stuck?

On a Cruise Liner in Deep Waters.

Q. If you could talk to the President, what would you talk about?

Mr President, now that you are in control and no corruption is going to prevail, I would like to make an earnest request for you and your honest team to make a huge financial contribution towards The Voice of the Cape Radio to upgrade our current studios in order to make it not only presentable but secure and safe for our loyal supporters.

Q. If you could be in a movie, what character would you play?

I can’t shy away from the mike but I often shy away from the camera so I prefer to be the Director of the Movie…of course it will be a True story with a happy ending !
