Students at a University of Cape Town residence were awoken by an early morning blaze on Wednesday that left a Jammie Shuttle bus completely burnt out.
The University of Cape Town confirmed the incident but said firefighters quickly extinguished the fire.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
No one was injured but the bus was completely destroyed.
Many students took to Twitter to voice their disbelief at the incident, with some saying it sounded like “loud explosions”.
The university said that the shuttle service’s schedule was not affected by the incident.
The institution was one of many hit by protests over rising fees and outsourcing of workers. News24
