VOC motivates kids this Ramadan

VOC has kick-started its annual Ramadan Kids Project, aimed at rewarding children for their efforts this Ramadan. The station has teamed up with Crescent Lifestyle to make this initiative happen.

“We want to motivate children to fast this month and reward them for their efforts especially they are fasting for the first time this year,” says coordinator Quanita Kamaar.

Kamaar says the project is about recognising how challenging fasting can be for young children.

“It’s not easy for kids to fast. Most parents tell their kids and give them an incentive,” says Kamaar.

Each child which participates has to pay a registration fee of R20. All proceeds go towards Bucket of Joy to assist to sustain the organisation.

“We want to donate the money to help them to continue,” says Kamaar.

The date and venue of the handover event will be announced. Listeners are advised to stay tuned into the station for more details.

On the day of the event each child will be awarded a certificate, a Bucket of Joy and an iftar Pack.

During Ramadan children can also tune into VOC’s Kids Club House show airing daily between 2pm until 3pm to keep them occupied.

“This vibrant show is targeted towards entertaining and educating children as they say radio is the theatre of the mind. Kids Club House motivates children with the niyah,” says Kamar.

The station will also be launching a special children’s series on Monday 22 June 2015.

To register for the VOC Kids Ramadan Project, parents must come to the station where they can make a payment at reception. For more information contact Najma on 021 442 3500. VOC
