VOC to kick off new early morning show

With the aim of motivating listeners through positive and inspirational on-air content, VOC will next week launch a new pre-dawn magazine show that will hopefully make early mornings a bit easier to bear. AM Inspirations, as the programme has been christened, will broadcast every weekday between 5am and 6:30am, preceding the Breakfast Beat show. It will be hosted by long-time VOC producer, Zulfah Brown-Jabaar and will include content such as motivational messages, naseegha, interviews, book readings and daily Qi’rah recitations.

AM Inspirations is very much in the same vein as the Ramadan show Sabagh ul-Khair, which this year drew massive support from listeners. However there will be notable differences, the biggest of which being listener interaction. The community’s views will take precedent, and the programme will also have a strong spiritual and positive tone.

“We want to hear what you have to say, and yes at 5am in the morning. People have this misconception that Capetonians don’t wake up early, and we are hoping inshallah to prove people wrong on that. For that we definitely need the help of our listeners,” said Brown-Jabaar.

The show will also prove to be a personal challenge for Brown-Jabaar who has been part of VOC for nearly five years, although mostly in a behind-the-scenes role.

She said AM Inspirations would aim to give a more positive outlook on life and the world in general, before the hard-hitting news that accompanies Breakfast Beat.

“News is something that is really depressing and it is all about the bad, the sad and sensational… But there is so much goodness in this big beautiful world of ours and so much love.

“The main contributor is you, and we’d like you to be positive, inspiring and inspired,” she said.

AM Inspirations kicks off on Monday 31st August. Tune in to VOC every morning between 5am-6:30am for more. VOC (Mubeen Banderker)
