2 Muslims shortlisted for Judicial positions

The Judicial Service Commission has shortlisted candidates for three judge president and four judge positions, it said on Thursday. They will be interviewed in Cape Town between April 13 and 17, the JSC said in a statement. The JSC called for nominations on January 20, with the closing date on February 13.

One judge president vacancy was available at each of the KwaZulu-Natal and Limpopo Divisions of the High Court and at the Land Claims Court.
For the KwaZulu-Natal judge president position, only Deputy Judge President Achmat Naaim Jappie was shortlisted.

For the Limpopo judge president position, Judge Francis Legodi and Judge Ephraim Makgoba were shortlisted. For the Land Claims Court, Judge Elias Matojane and Acting Judge President Yasmin Shenaz Meer were shortlisted.

There were two vacancies for judges each at the Supreme Court of Appeal and the Eastern Cape Division of the High Court. The High Court vacancies were in Bhisho and Grahamstown. In total, 16 candidates were shortlisted. SAPA
