As Muslims around the world bid farewell to Ramadan on Tuesday, Capetonians waited in anticipation as thick clouds filled the evening sky. In light of failed attempts to sight the moon in customary Cape Town tradition, the ‘Maan Kykers’ relied on sightings of the moon in Durban and Johannesburg.

As broadcasting continued through gale force winds , rain, and ‘showers’ from the ocean, this Moon Sighting is certainly one that will be remembered.

  1. Our Maankykers of Cape Town did a sterling job by sighting the new moon with the naked eye as prescribed on Tuesday night past.
We the Cape Muslims must thank these pious religious person in fulfilling their Islamic duties to the full. We Cape Muslims do not take moon sightings from anywhere.
