Hundreds of ANC supporters will be uniting to commemorate Human Rights Day in Khayelitsha. ANC Western Cape Media Liaison Officer Yonela Diko says the event will honour the road South Africa has travelled in ensuring that every South African enjoys full benefits as enshrined in the Bill of Rights and will also highlight the persisting and recurring violations of human rights under the DA government in the Western Cape.
“We celebrate this day each year to remind us of the great suffering and loss of life that accompanied the struggle for human rights. It is to remind us that people in South Africa will never again be denied their human rights,” says Diko.
Diko says supporters can expect various events at Subregional level again with the main objective of bringing to the fore human rights abuses across the divide, the lack of sanitation, lack of housing, gangster’s problems, crime, privatization of public schools, conditions on farms among others.
The rally kicks off at 11am at the Khayelitsha Resource Centre, Cape Town today.VOC
