Beacon Valley rocked by house bombing

The community of Beacon Valley in Mitchell’s Plain was shocked when an alleged drug house in the area was bombed late on Monday night.

A facebook page, ‘Mitchell’s Plain Gangwatch’ was abuzz after the incident, which people described as a big bang that left a house in the area without a roof and shattered windows.

Police spokesperson FC Van Wyk in a statement said that at 23:00pm, Mplain police responded to a compliant of an explosion in Hengelaar Street, Beacon Valley.

“Upon the members arrival they discovered that the house has been damaged by an explosive device,” said Van Wyk.

He explains that the alleged unknown suspects threw an explosive device towards the house which detonated after which the suspects fled the scene in a white Opel Astra.

Mplain police are investigating a case of endangering lives and property by means of detonating an explosive device.

Van Wyk said that the motive behind the incident is unknown and no arrest has been made as yet.
