A body has been found in a carriage of a train which went up in flames in Fish Hoek on Thursday.
City of Cape Town Fire Services spokesperson Liezl Moodie said the gender of the victim is unknown.
Two carriages were destroyed and a third was damaged.
“At 09:55, [we] responded to the railway station where the carriage and vegetation was burning. The vegetation fire spread towards the mountain slopes,” she said.
