A dead body was discovered on a Mitchell’s Plain sports field on Wednesday morning.

Western Cape police spokesperson Constable Noloyiso Rwexana confirmed that the body of a man was discovered at the Portlands Sports Complex in Hazeldene Road.

The man appeared to have been strangled with a length of wire.

“The motive for the incident is still under investigation and no arrests have been made,” she said.

Rwexana was unable to confirm if the incident was gang related. News24
