With over 16 years of professional, passionate and entertaining radio experience, legendary veteran radio personality, Ebrahim Gangat, has joined Salaamedia . Gangat, an icon in his own right, has been a main anchor in Islamic radio. His radio career has centered around prime time breakfast shows on two major Islamic stations Radio Islam International and Cii Broadcasting. It was Gangat`s unique personality and iconic show, Sabahul Khair, that saw him become the heart and soul of homes across South Africa.

Gangat now joins the Salaamedia team consisting of Azhar Vadi, Shamsheer Khan and Ponty Moletsane. Salaamedia finds its focus in humanitarian journalism, telling of peoples stories and vlogging.

“We have crafted a very unique concept in South Africa based on humanitarian journalism. We encourage people to take action and respond to the news. Ebrahim Gangat has always been a person with humanity at heart. We are certain he will make a home at Salaamedia where people are treated with respect and dignity,” says Azhar Vadi.

“Ebrahim Gangat is a towering figure in the Muslim media community, it is a big accolade for Salaamedia to have such a man in the team. His contribution for the advancement of Islam in the country is unmatched. We look forward to learning from his wealth of experience,” adds Ponty Moletsane.

Salaamedia, founded in January 2016, aims to go beyond the limits of traditional journalism by telling human stories while seeking to inspire people towards active citizenship and participation. It traverses traditional media platforms and regards itself as a trendsetting multi-dimensional social media outfit.

“It is an absolute joy to welcome Gangat to Salaamedia. We are a fairly new company whose focus is humanitarian journalism and the telling of human stories. Gangats appointment is ideal as he is an individual with a genuine interest in the greater good of society and humanity. We hope to in the near future consist of a team of great minds and personalities that will make a difference in people’s lives. We look forward to growing Salaamedia with you in mind,” says Shamsheer Khan.
