Eskom has warned of a full day of load shedding on Monday, saying a number of power generating units are still out of service.
The power utility had hoped to have enough generating units functioning to not have to ration electricity at the start of the week.
Eskom spokesperson Khulu Phasiwe tweeted on Sunday evening that the prognosis was for stage 2 load shedding between 09:00 and 22:00.
Stage 2 load shedding allows for 2000 megawatts to be shed form the national grid.
