Around 20 firefighters were busy containing a vegetation fire in Hermanus on Tuesday morning, an official said.
Ground crews were tackling hotspots in the Hemel and Aarde Valley, said Overstrand chief fire officer Lester Smith.
The fire started in Fernkloof on Sunday.
“On Sunday afternoon, one house was in danger, but with the help of a helicopter and different ground teams, no property was reported damaged at the end of the day.”
At present, the blaze was far from any residential properties.
Smith said the difficulty was that it took one spark for the fire to run away again.
“Between 12:00 and 15:00, it gets warmer and the wind changes direction. We are trying to put hot spots out before the weather gets too hot.” News24
