Durban – Another person has died after being struck by lightning in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN), the province’s Emergency Medical Services (EMS) said on Monday.

The latest light lightning strike happened at around 19h30 on Sunday night at a house in the Ndwedwe area, said KZN EMS spokesman Robert Mckenzie.

“At this scene, sadly a 28 year old woman had sustained fatal injuries after lightning reported struck the house she was in. Another person in the house was seriously injured and treated by KZN EMS paramedics,” said Mckenzie.

In a separate incident, three people were seriously injured when lightning struck the house they were in, also in the Ndwedwe area.

“These patients had all sustained serious injuries, but were taken to hospital in a stable condition,” said Mckenzie.

On Saturday, three churchgoers were killed and 40 others injured when a lightning bolt struck a tree they were worshipping under.
