Three men have been arrested for robbing a store and an on-duty constable of her service pistol in Goodwood, Western Cape, on Friday night.

But while the alleged robbers are in custody, the gun is yet to be found.

Police spokesperson Constable Noloyiso Rwexana said the officer had walked to the shop at the corner of Voortrekker Road and Wiener Street at 21:00, when she was approached by a three men outside the shop.

“They robbed her of her police issued firearm and her wedding ring,” she said.

“The group then entered and robbed the shop before fleeing the scene.”

Cash and goods were stolen from the store. Nobody was injured during the heist.

Police investigations led to the apprehension of three suspects aged 23, 24 and 29 shortly after the incident.

“Some of the [stolen] items were recovered, [but the] police firearm is yet to be found,” Rwexana said.

The trio are expected to appear in the Goodwood Magistrate’s Court. News24
