No arrests have yet been made in connection with a bust that resulted in the seizure of military gear, Nazi flags, guns and ammunition in Bothasig on Friday.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Andre Traut said on Monday that there were no new developments to report.

“The case is still under investigation,” he confirmed.

A tip-off led officers attached to the provincial detective unit to a flat behind a house in Vryburger Street on Friday morning.

Two guns, two silencers, a telescope, numerous magazines and a “huge amount” of ammunition for various calibre firearms – including R1 and R5 rifles, 9mm and .45 handguns – were found during the search.

Military gear, training equipment, reloading equipment, Nazi flags and memorabilia were also seized.

Police said that while they had identified a person of interest, he had not yet been apprehended. News24
