Islamic Relief in collaboration with Zain Bikha Studios, recently hosted their annual Evening of Inspiration over three days in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban. The organization raised nearly R4 million, which will greatly assist both national and international relief efforts.

Representative of the organization Fazlin  Fransman said that the event was a huge success and many hearts were touched with the amazing performances.

“The generosity of the South African community was just testament to the fact that we were able to raise the amount of money we did,” Fransman said.

Islamic Relief currently has offices in 40 countries and are able to deliver aid efficiently. Events of this nature, therefore, assist in creating awareness about the plight of the most marginalized citizens of the world and further improves the effectiveness of the organizations work.

“It’s not about Islamic Relief, it’s about the people in need. We feel that it’s our Amaanah (obligation).”

Fransman said that since many children know only war, their level of innocence has been stolen from them, and thanked the South African community for their willingness to assist in alleviating the suffering of these forgotten children.

“ We thank South Africans and the South African Muslim community for prioritizing people in need.”

Our job is to facilitate the process of ensuring that people get aid and we are humbled that so many people have entrusted us with that responsibility,” Fransman said.
