The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has hit a brick wall with the investigation into the murder of strip club boss, Lolly Jackson following the death of the main suspect in the trial, George Louka on Tuesday.

NPA spokesperson Velekhaya Mgobhozi said the matter would now be taken off the roll.

“The matter is going to be removed from the court roll. There is nobody to be prosecuted,” Mgobhozi said.

Louka had been extradited to South Africa from his home country, Cyprus, last year.

He was due to face charges related to Jackson’s death and another relating to him allegedly being caught in possession of stolen branded sneakers worth R1.5m.

Louka, however, died of stage four lung cancer on Tuesday before either of the trials could be wrapped up.

Last month, he entered a courtroom at the High Court in Johannesburg, sitting in Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court, in a wheelchair where he pleaded with the court to send him home.

With a breathing mask on and an oxygen tank hissing at his feet, Louka denied killing Jackson.

He said it was Czech fugitive, Radovan Krejcir, who is on trial for a series of crimes, who pulled the trigger.

Battling to speak, but aided by ­interpreter Charles Moloi who ­repeated everything loudly for the ­47-year-old, Louka told his story.

Louka said that an argument ­started between Jackson and Krejcir over an alleged fake money transfer notice that he said Krejcir had given to ­Jackson.

Krejcir allegedly pushed Jackson and then shot him. “Radovan, he put the gun and he shot him,” Louka said.

Following the damning testimony, the court denied Louka’s request.

The judge said Louka was a flight risk as he had told the court details of how he bribed a border official to allow him access into Mozambique following Jackson’s murder.

Louka’s testimony was now of no use to the NPA.

“The trial can’t go on… There would be no one to question,” said Mgobhozi.

He called on anyone with any information to hand it in in the form of an affidavit.

Meanwhile, Krejcir, who has been in police custody since November 2013, has denied killing his associate, Jackson.

Last month, speaking to reporters outside the Germiston Magistrate’s Court where he had appeared on another matter, Krejcir said he had nothing to do with it.

“Well I am terribly sorry about his sickness, but I hope he will have enough courage before he dies to say that I wasn’t involved in the Lolly Jackson murder,” Krejcir said at the time.

“I’m hoping he will [reveal] the people who convinced him to make a deal with the State and involving me in this story,” he said. News24
