Muslims burying their loved ones will not need to worry about the financial stress of arranging the burial, with the launch of a new janazah plan. Al Hadiyyatul-Matloob, launched its janazah plan on Tuesday, said to be the first and only underwritten and sharī‘ah compliant janāzah plan.

It is a completely shariah compliant service which aims to provide legal, medical and household assistance. They would assist in drawing up wills and disputes that may arise at the time of the death.

With ever-changing circumstances and the increased cost of living, the sharī‘ah compliant funeral plan based on the prophetic model, seeks to provide support, in cash or kind, at the crucial time of death. Founder and CEO Ashraf Bux said the plan was to make things easier for the community and give them peace of mind at such a difficult time.

“When someone passes on, the bereaved have got their plate so full at that time that they just can’t give support to family. Al Hadiyyah can step in and give you back that piece of mind,” said Bux.

The monthly contribution would R87, 86 for the entire family with added benefits.

“This is a debit order per family that basically covers mom, dad and up to six kids under the age of twenty-one. If the kids are studying they can be 21 up to the age of 25,” added Bux.

Including in the package is 24 hour medical advice, medical response and legal assistance. The spouse would also receive R500 airtime on the day of the janaaza, said Bux.

One of the goals they hope to achieve with the money that is generated is to build a home for orphans and to fund the community at large.

There are a few ways to apply. One could apply by sending a blank sms to 48435 where one of the call centre agents will call you back. Al Hadiyyah will also be live at the Promenade shopping centre in Mitchells Plain from the 15th July to the 21st July where a direct sales team will be there to assist with the sign-up.
