Karaoke fundraiser in Cape Town turns violent

A karaoke fundraiser ended in bloodshed in Belthorn Estate on Saturday night when two men were shot and killed.

Officers responded to a shooting at Turfhall Stadium at 23:30, where the body of a 40-year-old man was found on the side of the building.

The body of a 45-year-old man was found inside the hall.

According to police, witnesses reported hearing three gunshots while the music played.

When the lights went on, they saw the man lying on the floor with gunshot wounds to the face and neck.

The suspects fled in a red car. As they sped off, police said, the body at the side of the building was found with a bullet wound to the neck.

Both victims allegedly had links to the Mongrels gang in Hanover Park.

One suspect has since been taken in for questioning in connection with the incident. News24
