South Africa has recorded 2 967 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 2 889 298.

The majority of new cases are from KwaZulu-Natal with 23%, followed by the Western Cape with 20% and the Eastern Cape accounting for 12%. There has been an increase of 142 hospital admissions in the past 24 hours.

A further 124 Covid-19 related deaths have been reported, taking the total fatalities to 86 500 to date.
