Zephany Nurse, who was snatched from Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town 17 years ago, has been found, Beeld reported on Friday.

The woman who raised her, and allegedly took her, was taken into custody by the Hawks, following a DNA test and is expected to appear in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on Friday.

According to the report, the Nurses’ second daughter, born four years after Zephany’s disappearance, started Grade 8 at a school in Cape Town this year.

Classmates kept telling her there was a girl in matric who looked just like her.

The two girls became friends and eventually the younger girl’s father pretended that he wanted to meet his daughter’s new friend.

The likeness was remarkable and so he approached the police.

They investigated and interviewed the older girl’s parents but could find no record of her birth according to the information they were given.

They got permission to take DNA, and confirmed it was her.

A person close to the family said there were emotional scenes when the girl found out that the people who raised her were not her biological parents. SAPA
