PRESS RELEASE- The Muslim Judicial Council condemns the horrific, brutal and ruthless attack by Boko Haram which resulted in the death of more than 120 worshippers and the wounding of 270 at the Grand Mosque in Kano, Nigeria during the sacred Friday prayers. The ongoing clandestine and murderous actions of this lawless group has wreaked havoc in Nigeria’s most populous Muslim Northern state.
The modus operandi of Boko Haram known for kidnappings and sale of young girls, hit and run drive by shootings and bomb blasts is an attack against Islam, humanity and aims to strike fear into Nigerians in order to destabilize the majority Muslim North of Nigeria.
In addition their total disregard for the sacred period of Friday prayers where unarmed worshippers were massacred are not actions reminiscent of a group established on Islamic law but rather a guerilla operation of criminals and lawless, corrupt guerilla fighters.
These actions therefore flies in the face of their so-called claims of establishing an islamic state.
As the families mourn for their dead and the nation is paralysed by their grief and shock, we convey our deepest sympathies to those who have lost their loves ones at the hands of lawless killers.
We pray that peace will prevail in Nigeria so that the community may live in harmony, thrive and benefit from the vast natural resources that the Nigeria nation has in reserve.

too little too late, yes we condemn the atrocious acts, yes our deepest sympahy to the bereaved families and communities,
about 30 years too late, the mjc et al only recently for the first time spoke out against such brutalites
where is the real leadership?
when the taliban then al qaeda al nusra fsa isil isis et al did this they kept quiet mostly because of their sectarianism, now theyve started to speak out because it occurred in africa to africans esp of other faiths,
in the beginning the victims were mostly shia so for them it was ok to remain quiet now over the last 3 years or so its proven that these scum of the earth dont even care if its their own "sunni" shuyookh folk masajid shrines either
and still, at most masajid they ie the mjc uucsa jamiats press ahead with their sectarian hate-filled programs against the shia
