Former President Kgalema Motlanthe says he is concerned by what he referred to as the deviation from the liberation promise by those in leadership positions in the country.
Speaking at Rhodes University during a lecture on Value Based Leadership in Grahamstown Motlanthe focused on ethical leadership and putting the interest of the people first.
He urged leaders to embrace selflessness and adhere to the objectives of the liberation struggle.
Motlanthe says, “The deviation from the promise of liberation is essentially a major concern because there was a time when we were all optimistic that we had made a clean break with the past and that now we were ready to build a united, non-racial, non-sexist prosperous democratic South African nation…”
