MPlain hosts Palestine Festival

A group of youth who feel passionately about the Palestinian cause have organised a ‘Palestine Festival’ in aid of raising funds for Gaza. The Mitchell’s Plain Town Centre Mosque, Youth For Change (YFC), and Muslim Youth United (MYU) will be collaborating to host the event this weekend. The festival is open to all supporters, who are encouraged to bring their pro Palestine gear to show their support. The festival will take place between 3pm and 6pm at the Mitchell’s Plain Indoor Sports Centre.

“People attending should bring their Palestine flags and attire for the rally in the hall,” says events co-ordinator Sheikh Yusuf Gassiep.

Two halls are housing this event and on the one side will be an exhibition showcasing a documentary. On the other side, a rally will be held which will including a poetry reading by students and talk by Sheikh Riyaad Walls and Sheikh Ihsaan Taliep.

“All the proceeds will go towards aid for Gaza,” says Gassiep.
