Ipid has registered a criminal case against National Police Commissioner Khehla Sitole for failing to cooperate with its investigation into the murder of Western Cape Anti-Gang Unit detective, Charl Kinnear.
The revered 52-year-old was assassinated outside his Bishop Lavis home in September of 2020.
Alleged underworld gang boss Nafiz Modack and six co-accused were denied bail in connection to the matter last week.
They face a combined 62 charges, with some having also been implicated in the attempted murder of criminal lawyer William Booth in April of the same year. An orchestrated murder attempt on Kinnear by hand grenade in November the previous year, also forms part of the charges.
