Police in Mfuleni on Monday sought public assistance regarding the whereabouts of the mother of a newborn baby found abandoned in bushes in the area, Western Cape police said.
The baby was found by a shepherd walking cows in the bushes next to the Bosasa temporary housing area.
“He [the shepherd] heard a baby cry and saw a bundle moving in a blanket unattended and notified the police,” said police spokeswoman Noloyiso Rwexana.
“The baby boy was found covered in a blanket. The baby might be a few days old.”
Anyone with information about the identity or whereabouts of the baby’s mother is asked to contact the Mfuleni police station on 021-909 9593 or Captain Nomathemba Muavha on 082 499 4650.
