The National Prosecuting Authority says there was a woman in the van with the two policemen who were killed near Kraaifontein in Cape Town last weekend.

Spokesperson Eric Ntabazalila says she was shot in the head and is being treated in hospital.

45-year-old Sergeant Mnakwazo Mdoko and 28-year-old Constable Mninawa Breakfast were ambushed in Bloekombos and their service pistols stolen.

A 32-year-old suspect Mxoleleni Sikhala has appeared in the Blue Downs Court. He’s been charged with two counts of murder, attempted murder and robbery with aggravating circumstances.

He will appear again on 9 March, 2021.
