One Up Cash n Carry in Khayelitsha fell victim to a robbery on Tuesday afternoon.  Six armed men held staff at gunpoint as they filled a box with airtime and cigarettes. The men fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money.

According to the store manager, Mr Majiet, the unidentified suspects were well dressed and did not look suspect.

“Three men just walked up to me and put a gun against me. They forced me and my colleagues to sit down and be quiet while they raided the kiosk for money and merchandise,” Mr Majiet explained.

No staff member was hurt during the hold-up. He said they were still in the process of determining what damage has been done to the shop.

Police were unavailable for comment. VOC
