The community of Klapmuts in Paarl are calling on residents to assist in the search for a young man who went missing last week. 22 year old Abduraghiem Diedricks was last seen on Klapmuts train station after work on the 3rd of July.

‘Puna’ as he is affectionately known was at work on the Thursday and he was last seen wearing a black jeans, yellow long sleeve polo neck over his black work T-shirt, navy jacket and takkies.

Pink Ladies director Dessie Rechner said he is well known in the rugby arena as he is a rugby player and has many friends.

Sedick Green, who has been assisting in the search for Diedricks, believes something terrible must have happened to him after viewing video footage of him at a local petrol station in the area.

“He was out of it from what I saw in the two videos he either snapped or lost his memory. What I picked up on the footage is that he was rather confused and wasn’t himself,” said Green.

He also added that the young man was with an unknown man who was traced after he robbed Diedricks of his phone.

Green said they will be holding a thikr tonight after which they will discuss the next plan of action regarding the search.

The young man’s mother Mariam Diedricks was too distraught to talk to VOC News. But Raeesa, speaking on her behalf said she does not know what could have happened to him.

“We are good friends and he always came to visit me. We don’t know what could have happened to him. We are hoping and praying to find him alive,” said Raeesah.

Any one who sees Abduraghiem Diedricks or know of his whereabouts, should contact Pink Ladies on 082 469 6502/ 021 875 8000 or 072 214 7439. VOC (Imogen Vollenhoven)
