The Road Accident Fund (RAF) has a funding shortfall of R800 million a month, which is stalling payment to claimants, The Star reported on Monday.
The fund reportedly sent a letter to lawyers a week ago saying it owed R6.2 billion to 5140 claimants and service providers, and the figure was growing.
“Neither the RAF nor our service providers can do anything about the shortfall that has not already been done,” the fund reportedly said.
RAF spokesman Sello Mosotho told the publication the fund was in discussions with the Treasury and transport department to get more money. SAPA
