The planning and management of this year’s hajj will be discussed this weekend when the South African Hajj and Umrah Council (SAHUC) hosts its annual road show in Cape Town. SAHUC’s road show will be directed toward creating awareness within communities about the various processes and structures of accreditation.
SAHUC president, Shaheen Essop, explained that the head of mission will discuss the mission and the duties, and how the mission makes the process as comfortable as possible for hujjaaj.
Essop further noted that interviews for the mission work are expected to begin within the coming week.
In addition, attendees will be informed about medical concerns that may arise during their stay in the Kingdom.
Hujjaaj will also be given access to Hajj operators that will present the various Haj and Umrah packages.
“A significant aspect of the road show is the free interaction between hujjaaj and Haj operators so that individuals can make informed decisions,” Essop stated.
Essop explained that SAHUC will release a notice of accreditation once the final road show is complete, which is scheduled for April 24, 2016.
“Once this list is externally audited, in order to ensure transparency, the list is released,” Essop confirmed.
Attending the road show, Essop asserted is vital, since individuals are often uninformed about specific travel regulations.
“For a first-time traveller or haji, this information is vital in order to make your journey comfortable. SAHUC and the operators are there to ensure that the logistics are in place – you are there to concentrate on your Ibada,” Essop concluded.
