The South African Medical Association (SAMA) has apologized for controversial arguments that its chairman, Dr. Angelique Coetzee, made about admission requirements to medical schools.
The well-known medical practitioner made the releases during a radio interview last month.
During the interview, Coetzee expressed personal views that the admissions processes to medical schools have been highly politicized.
She added that race played an important role in determining acceptance to medical faculties. and that different criteria exist for different race groups regarding admission requirements.
