SARS has extended the filing season in response to an overwhelming number of taxpayers submitted their personal income tax returns since July.

The deadline has been shifted from yesterday, to next Thursday, the second of December.

The Revenue Service says is addressing systemic issues and says it is aware of the impact loadshedding has had on taxpayers.

The date for levying penalties on taxpayers that have not filed their return will be to next year January.
