Social grant recipients are set to receive a welcome boost after the South African Social Services Agency (Sassa) announced that grants for December will be distributed earlier than expected. With the festive season fast approaching, recipients will be able to access their funding from the 26th November onwards.
Pay-outs usually open on the 1st of each month, but the early opening is aimed at ensuring old-age pensioners have access to funding during the busy festive season period.
“The minister (Bathabile Dlamini) has announced that she wants older person to have the opportunity to draw their money early so that they don’t have to be caught up in the rush for Christmas shopping,” explained Sassa regional co-ordinator, Ebrahim Ryland.
The pay-out date will extend to the 15th December.
As for November grants, those who have failed to draw for the month will be afforded the opportunity accept a double pay-out for November and December from the 26th onwards as well.
