Seven suspects arrested after a robbery at Somerset West

Police arrested seven suspects that were involved in a business robbery in Somerset West yesterday. This comes after swift response by Khayelitsha SAPS. According to an eyewitness she was at the store assisting a customer when she heard her colleague yelling.  The complainant noticed an unknown man with a firearm in the store. She was threatened by the suspect who was accompanied by another armed suspect.

The men than took her and two of her colleagues to the control room, where they took a hefty sum of money and several cellphones.

She noticed about six thieves involved. The suspects fled the scene in a black VW Polo in an unknown direction. No one was harmed during the robbery.

Later that day SAPS in Khayelitsha saw the getaway vehicle with a man inside, after spotting the police the suspect drove off. Police followed the suspect to a house in Samora Marcel and arrested the suspect and six others.

Some of the money and goods were recovered.

The seven is expected to appear in the Somerset West Magistrate court as soon as they have been charged.
