Sheikh Muhammad West, Imam of the Long Market Street masjid will be hosting a discussion on the world of jinn and the devil this Saturday, 24th October. “A nightmare on Ilm street” will focus on a range of topics including magic, demonic possession, exorcism, the infamous Charlie Charlie game and protection from entities, amongst others.
“It is becoming a bit of an annual programme. It is a strange coincidence that last year it coincided with Halloween. Some people said that I was celebrating Halloween in an Islamic way. Now this talk ties in perfectly because on Sunday the 25th October we have a Muharram march. The marquee and everything is set up it was a perfect time to have a programme outdoor,” Sheikh West explained.
The programme gets under way after Esha and is open to both males and females. Entrance to the event is free of charge as well.
There is no age restriction however given the nature of the topic that will be discussed it will be scary.
We are talking about the reality of pure evil. It is disturbing things and I hope no one ever encounters it. However we need to speak about it therefore have discretion. If your child is unable to fully understand it then perhaps it is not for very young kids,” West stressed.
There will food on sale at the talk and all proceeds will go towards Palestine. West urged community members to come out and support the talk and educate themselves on the topic. VOC (Najma Bibi Noor Mahomed)
