Six coaches catch fire at CT station

Yet another fire has gripped the Mother City this weekend as six coaches caught alight at the Cape Town train station on Sunday evening.

The City’s safety and security director Richard Bosman said the incident is currently being attended to by fire and rescue services.

“The fire is on platform 15 and our emergency services are on scene.”

More information was not immediately available.

Reports of the smell of chemical smoke from the blaze were coming in from the Devil’s Peak area.

Over the weekend, one man died and approximately 1 300 residents were left homeless after a fire broke out in the Mandela Park area situated in the Imizamo Yethu settlement.

The city said earlier that at least eight people were killed and 19 others were displaced in the early hours of Saturday morning across Cape Town when their shacks in were engulfed in flames.  News24
