Teacher suspended over Amy’Leigh de Jager kidnapping

JOHANNESBURG – Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi says the Department supports the decision to suspend a teacher involved in the kidnapping of Grade R learner Amy’Leigh de Jager.

The six-year-old was kidnapped on Monday morning outside the Kollegepark Primary School.

Three suspects, one known to the De Jager family, were arrested on Wednesday.

“We have endorsed the decision that has been taken by the SGB to immediately suspend the teacher concerned.

“We will then immediately institution disciplinary hearings on the basis of the court appearance and the information we will receive from court tomorrow”, said Lesufi.

The suspects, two women and a man, are expected to appear in court on Friday.
