Metrorail says there will be no train delays for the near future, as all technical difficulties have been resolved.

“All is set and back on track to run smoothly as of tomorrow, so commuters can be at ease about getting to work. All technical difficulties have been resolved and were repaired by 10:30am,” said spokesperson Riana Scott.

This comes after the railway company was beset with two major technical issues on Monday, the first of which related to problems with wiring at one of the junctions. The latter was a result of cable theft.

“The Northern line, Central line and Cape Flats Line converge at the butchered section. 5m of cable theft also occurred between the Phillipi and Rose Dock stations, resulting in major delays. The technical difficulties we had this morning resulted in 70 and 90 minute delays,” said Scott.

Commuters found themselves stranded at the station late for work. However the station was issuing written confirmations of the delays to all employers.

“We encourage anyone who experience difficulties with their employers to get a written confirmation from the station,” she said. VOC (Nailah Cornelissen)
