Ten families displaced in Delft fire

About ten families have been displaced following a fire that engulfed backyard structures at Delft in the early hours of this morning. City Fire and Rescue Services personnel were deployed to extinguish the blaze.
In another fire, one person died and another sustained serious burn wounds in Gugulethu.
This, after two informal structures were destroyed and one formal dwelling partially damaged by the fire.
No one has been injured in the Delft fire. Angus McKenzie is DA Sub-Council Chairperson in Delft:
“Ten wood backyard structures and one iron structure was destroyed leaving 32 people displaced. We are appealing to the community at large to assist these families rebuild what has been destroyed both physically and emotionally.”
