Under misty skies, the City of Cape Town’s Clean-up Campaign has been launched across the metro this morning by Mayor Geordin-Hill Lewis. This programme is aimed at cleaning up the streets, removing graffiti and addressing crime in neighbourhoods by employing local residents. Lewis says the campaign will continue for the next few months ‘until a sense of pride has been built around the City’.
“What we would really love is for residents, ratepayers, schools, and even councilors across the City to volunteer some time out of their day to clean up our streets and surroundings and make it look beautiful,” explained Lewis.
