Tik worth over R1m was found wrapped in a fleece baby blanket in a woman’s suitcase at the Cape Town International Airport on Tuesday morning.
Officers from the anti-drug smuggling team of the border police discovered the contraband during random searches of luggage belonging to passengers who landed at 08:30, on a flight from OR Tambo Airport, police spokesperson Captain FC Van Wyk confirmed in a statement.
“Approximately 5kg of tik with an estimated street value of R1.4m was seized,” he said.
The 28-year-old woman was arrested for dealing in drugs and is expected to appear in the Bellville Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday. News24
