Today is World Cancer Day under the theme, Closing the Gap. The theme revolves around identifying and recognising global disparities in cancer care, which prevents people from certain access to essential healthcare services and facilities. This day was founded on the fourth of February, 2000, during the World Cancer Conference for the New Millennium in Paris, France. Currently, 8.2 million people die from cancer worldwide every year, out of which four million are premature deaths aged 30 to 69-years-old.
