Following a protracted closed session of the NEC, the African National Congress (ANC) has finalized the nominations for the top six positions of the party. The announcement of the nominations opened with points of order being raised about the voting process from the North West, Mpumalanga and the Eastern Cape structures. Despite disruptions, the Independent Electoral Commissioner Bontle Mphakonyane proceeded with the announcement, with chairperson Baleka Mbete urging members to allow the voting process to go ahead undisturbed and in line with the Constitution of the ANC. The voting process marks the end to the tenure of outgoing Jacob Gedleyihlekisa Zuma.
The voting process:
Once ballots have been prepared, 4776 delegates will proceed with the official voting in of the ANC’s top six positions on Sunday evening, with approximately 200 voting delegates casting their votes per round.
The announcement of the new ANC president and the newly appointed NEC is expected to be made on Monday.

Deputy President – David Mabuza and Lindiwe Sisulu
Chairperson – Gwede Mantashe and Nathi Mthethwa
Secretary General – Senzo Mchuno and Ace Magashule
Deputy Secretary General – Zingiswa Losi and Jessie Duarte
Treasurer General – Maite Nkoana Mashable and Paul Mashatile
